Re: eep

Although this might piss a few people off, I don't agree with them at all.
Anyone else?

Re: eep

to me, hillsong is like scientology.

they are seriously evil, though I'm not quite sure why yet. I'll figure it out eventually :)

Re: eep

They knowingly mis-quote the bible to suit their own purposes.
Eg ".. so loved the world he gave his only son..." was used by them to claim God wants us to give to the church. ".. so loved the world he gave"

There's a good reason for anyone (Christian or not) to think they're evil

Re: eep

Most churches aren't multi-million dollar organisations parading as religious institutions either:)

i'd like to ask them why "God" made child abusers, animal torturers, and $cientologists

God invented free will. With that we are free to furfill our own destinies.

ok, let me get this straight: "God" invents humanity, the planet, an entire endless (but except for us, unpopulated) universe, and then gives humanity free will?
then, just to stir us, "God" appears in a tortilla/cloud/coffee cup/insert dumb story here to give somebody the stats on creating the one true religion, plus several spin-offs in which he asks people to give up their free will and do as they're told??
what a wanker!
this "God" should go into politics.
if i believed in "God" i'd tell him to go fuck himself and stop trolling

The stock answer to that would be, "God" didn't make those things - they evolved through freedom of choice.

The Preacher books by Garth Ennis have an interesting take on free choice, actually...

Or maybe "God" was invented to combat the destruction of freedom of choice that existed early among the early stages of primitive man?

Thus, if it was not for the heinous acts of man, God wouldn't have existed.

I like Atheism myself - The religion devoted to one's own smug sense of superiority.

Thanks nerdi :)

Geez - it's funny how strongly people react to christianity
I didn't mean to start a debate, I merely wanted help finding an LJ group.

Cheers

religion always creates debate
most wars are religous in nature even lj ones :)

Why does it specifically have to be an Australian group?

If you're looking for the opinions of people relating to religion and the like (but aren't restricting it to Australian members), convert_me does a pretty good element of debate.

But it's unclear exactly what type of questions you're trying to ask (from the quick skim of the comments, I haven't figured out whether it's "Help me find xyz Christian-related material?" or "What do you guys think about...?" - but I may have missed where you said so).
